In 2006, UNSW professor Martin Green was named the first Australian to receive the Global Energy Prize, which is awarded for “outstanding achievement” in science and technology to address the world’s most pressing energy issues. He co-won the prize with Russian scientist Sergey Alekseenko, and is the director of the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics. Green’s research has revolutionised solar photovoltaics, making them the most affordable and efficient form of bulk electricity supply.
Tindo Solar
One of the most prominent names in the Australian solar panel industry is Tindo Solar, the only company to manufacture solar panels in Australia.
